Who we are
Loan Clarity operates the Student Loan Borrower Sentiment Index™ at studentloansindex.com. We're an independent data and intelligence platform — not a lender, servicer, or financial advisor.
Questions? Email us: zeroloan000@gmail.com
What we collect and why
If you sign up for the newsletter:
- Name and email address — to send you the Friday Borrower Briefing. That's it. We use a simple file-based system, not a CRM.
Automatically when you visit:
- Anonymized IP address — we truncate the last octet (e.g., 12.34.56.xxx). We never store your full IP.
- Browser and device type — Chrome on macOS, Safari on iOS, etc. Used to understand how the platform is used across devices. Not linked to your identity.
- Referring page and UTM parameters — where you came from (e.g., a tweet, a Google search). Used to understand what content is driving awareness.
- Index score at time of signup — so we can understand whether high-stress market moments drive more sign-ups. No personally identifying value.
We do not use cookies for advertising. We do not run ad pixels (Meta, Google Ads, etc.). We do not track you across other websites.
How we use your data
- To send the Friday Borrower Briefing newsletter (if you signed up)
- To improve the platform — understand which features people actually use
- To analyze traffic sources — understand what's working
We do not sell, rent, or trade your data with third parties. Ever.
Third-party services we use
- Google Fonts — fonts are loaded from Google's CDN. Google may log the request IP. Google Privacy Policy ↗
- AI sentiment analysis — public Reddit post text is processed by a third-party AI language model for sentiment classification. No personal data is sent.
- Railway — our hosting provider. They log server access. Railway Privacy Policy ↗
- Reddit / Arctic Shift — we read public Reddit posts via public APIs. We do not collect or store Reddit user data.

Your rights
Regardless of where you live:
- Access — email us and we'll tell you exactly what we have on you
- Deletion — ask us to delete your data and we will, within 30 days
- Correction — something wrong? We'll fix it
- Portability — we'll send you your data in a readable format
EU/UK residents: You have additional rights under GDPR including the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
California residents: Under CCPA, you have the right to know, delete, and opt out of sale of personal information. We don't sell personal information, but the right still applies.
Data retention
We keep newsletter subscriber data until you ask us to delete it. Server logs (anonymized IPs) are kept for up to 30 days for security purposes.
Security
Subscriber data is stored on Railway's infrastructure. The admin export endpoint is password-protected. We don't store payment information (we have none). We use HTTPS everywhere.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the date above and announce it in the Friday Briefing. No surprise moves.
